Most people pay little attention to mosquito bites:

It’s just a bump and two days of itching, right?

But this year, we truly recommend everyone take it seriously.

Effective April 1, 2026, chikungunyahas been officially listed for management as a Class‑B infectious disease, adopting the same prevention and control measures as dengue fever. Like dengue fever, it is transmitted through bites from Aedes mosquitoes (tiger mosquitoes), yet its symptoms are more insidious and debilitating.

According to the prevention and control plan released by the National Administration for Disease Control and Prevention, the risk of mosquito‑borne transmission across China is classified into four categories. Regions of Category Ⅰ and Ⅱ feature long active periods of Aedes mosquitoes and a relatively high risk of clustered outbreaks, making them key prevention‑and‑control areas for this year. Even in regions with lower risk levels, local transmission triggered by imported cases may still occur, so no complacency is allowed.

The most typical manifestations of chikungunya are sudden onset of fever and severe joint pain. It predominantly attacks small joints such as fingers, wrists and ankles. The pain can interfere with walking and hand‑raising movements. Furthermore, such joint pain may last for weeks or even months, severely disrupting daily life.

How to Prevent Chikungunya Fever Scientifically?

There are no specific medicines or widely‑available vaccines for chikungunya. The core prevention and control measure is simple: prevent and eliminate mosquitoes to cut off transmission routes.

Here are the daily precautions we can take:

01

Clear standing water in flower pots, trays, bottles and cans in a timely manner to reduce mosquito breeding at the source.

02

Wear light‑colored long‑sleeved shirts and long trousers when going out, and apply approved mosquito repellent on exposed skin.

03

Avoid mosquito‑prone areas such as bushes and stagnant‑water ditches whenever possible.

04

Choose professional mosquito‑control equipment as needed; physical mosquito control offers greater peace of mind.

Outdoor environments are complex and variable, and mosquito repellent has limited duration of effectiveness. Reliance solely on personal protection can hardly achieve long‑term and stable mosquito‑control results. For public epidemic prevention, many outdoor sites such as parks and hospitals install professional mosquito‑killing equipment for auxiliary prevention and control. Ordinary households may also optimize physical mosquito‑proof setups in sitting areas like courtyards and terraces.

TheGM977AOutdoor Mosquito Killer launched by GREENYELLOW is adaptable to a wide range of outdoor scenarios. It can be placed and used in public outdoor spaces as well as rest areas such as home courtyards and terraces. Leveraging bionic technology, it simulates carbon‑dioxide exhaled by the human body to accurately attract and trap mosquitoes. Working with zero chemical agents, it delivers purely physical mosquito elimination. Suitable for households with the elderly, children and pets, it reduces mosquito density at the source.

If you have just returned from epidemic‑prone areas such as Southeast Asia or Africa, closely monitor your physical condition within 14 days. Should you develop fever or rashes, seek medical attention promptly and voluntarily inform doctors of your travel history and history of mosquito bites.

Though chikungunya can be severe, we can effectively lower the risk of mosquito‑borne infection by clearing stagnant water, adopting physical protection and implementing scientific mosquito‑control measures.
